GLOBAL WARMING: SKEPTICS OUTNUMBER BELIEVERS, BEEMER REPORT.COM
Orlando, FL, April 6, 2010.... The numbers of believers that global warming is "real and present" has fallen by over twenty percentage points in the past year to only 35.8%, according to the findings of the latest survey by the BeemerReport.com.
A year ago, 59.0% of Americans believed global warming was real and a threat to the American way of life. Today, 36.0% believe that global warming had never been a problem and 28.2% have serious doubts.
"Congress should pay attention to this important shift in public opinion as they begin to consider a 'cap & trade' bill to reduce carbon emissions," says consumer trend expert C. Britt Beemer, CEO and Founder of ARG.
Beemer predicts that the proposed legislation will be a very hard sell. "There will be serious tax consequences coming out of the proposed legislation and it will be hard to get Americans to pay more in the future for an issue they no longer believe in," he said.
The research consisted of 1,000 telephone interviews conducted Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 12, 13 and 14, 2010, at ARG headquarters in Charleston, SC. The error factor is plus or minus 3.8%.
